Winners of International Plastics Design Competition 2009

We are presenting 12 winners of the 2009 International Plastics Design Competition (IPDC) that took place in Chicago in June. The awards are in different categories and the 12 winners are innovators in plastic engineering and issues like sustainability and cost-effectiveness

People's Choice Award: The prepaid energy meter by Excelec & CIA

Best Innovative Plastics Design/Medical Award: The Hospria iSecure syringe. Best Sustainable Industrial/Military Award: The WaterBrick.

Best Recreation and Leisure Award: The aerodynamic profile of the Aero.

Best Furniture Award: Embody chair, by Herman Miller, Inc.

Best Packaging and Materials Handling Award: The High Impact Plastic Pallet.

Best Sustainable Consumer Product: The KOR ONE Hydration Vessel.

Best Single Part Award: The QDesk is an eco-friendly one-piece school desk designed with soft contoured lines to provide the necessary ergonomic sitting and writing support for children during their most physically important growing years.

The QDesk is durable yet practical and attractive. Its modern design gives the school classrooms the fun look that children love. In addition the QDesk is made out of 100% recyclable polyethylene so it is extremely durable and light, making classrooms more flexible and environmentally friendly. Best Lawn and Garden Agriculture Award: The Seed Tube by John Deere.

Best Automotive/Transportation Award: BMW’s Twin Sheet Blow Molded Automotive Fuel System.

Best Retail Award: The All Plastic Targetv Shopping Cart. Judges' Best Award: The Service Ideas' "Hot Solutions“, Food Service Tray.
